The Spix’s Macaw is famous for being an intelligent, curious, and very affectionate species. They often form strong bonds with their mates and flock, showing loyalty and tenderness through mutual grooming and care. In the wild, Spix’s Macaws are extremely cautious, usually camouflaging themselves among dry forest canopies and only making soft calls to communicate. When properly cared for, they become playful, lively, and approachable, captivating everyone with their charm and cleverness.

Gorgeous light blue plumage, with a gray head and neck.

Approximately 55–57 cm in length and weighing about 300–400 g.
