Catalina Macaw is the very first generation of hybrid parrots of the most 2 popular Macaw: Scarlet – the most beautiful and famous in South-American parrots, Blue and Gold – a familiar parrot in shows of birds, very nice. Father parrots usually have dominant genes and influence their next generation both in color and appearance. Catalinas inherit their parents’ colorful fur. Scarlet require to be strictly trained, especially mature ones. However, they may be also gentle and able to speak well like Blue and Gold.
Catalina’s size is the same as those of other ordinary Macaws, with 86cm length and 1kg weight. They have good ability to speak, about 15 words or more. Because female Blue and Gold is more popular than female Scarlet, mother is usually Blue and Gold and father is Scarlet. Due to dominant genes of father, Catalina has yellow to red orange chest and back, green to blue green head and wings. Catalina appearance is a little bit similar to Harlequin (hybrib porrots of Blue and Gold and Green-winged), but their tails are longer than Harlequin.
Nutrition: Catalina’s foods are seeds, nuts, vegetable, canned foods for parrots or some foods for human. Their meals are similar to those of other Macaw .
